Herts Business Growth Show 2023

On Thursday 27th April, Lucie & Emily attended the first ever Herts Business Growth Show, held at Rothamsted Conference Centre.

It was such a fantastic day, with three inspirational talks, two fantastic workshops, and lots of great conversations with other local businesses – we left feeling so inspired and motivated, buzzing with ideas and determination for the months and years ahead.

The first talk was from Business Life Coach Tony Fields. He spoke largely about how identifying and facing barriers head on can lead to us living a happier and more fulfilled life. Drawing on his personal experiences, he helps people to adjust their mindset in order to take better control, pushing them to be the best they can be.

The afternoon began with an inspirational talk from Syd Nadim. Syd is the founder of multi-award-winning digital agency, Clock. He spoke a lot about grit; holding steadfast to a goal through time, having the determination belief that you can do it, but also knowing when to draw on people with specific expertise to help bring that goal to life. Syd’s believes his success has largely come from inspiring the people he has around him – it’s all about the team, and we couldn’t agree more!

Tony Fields, Syd Nadim and Victoria Humphries

For us the main stand out of the day was Victoria Humphries talk. She is a polar adventurer, 3x Guinness World Record holder, mountain climber, author, businesswoman and all-round ‘normal person’ (according to her – we think she’s amazing!)

Her anything is possible attitude was what we found most inspiring, she lives by the phrase ‘Why not? What’s the worst that can happen’ – it’s such a simple phrase but with potential for huge impact. This mantra led her to become part of the first all-female expedition to the North Pole, experiencing temperatures of -40ºC, constantly shifting ice and some pretty scary life of death situations! But, it was her constant perseverance and determination that was contagious, leaving us feeling ready to seize the day – sometimes we just need to be reminded to give things a go!

Thanks to the team for putting on such a great event — we’re already looking forward to next years!
